WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Closing arguments will continue tomorrow in the double-murder trial of Omonte Bell and Dyrell Green, who are both charged in the deaths of Bri-Yanna Williams and Koredreese Tyson in July 2021.

The defense and prosecution began their closing arguments on Monday, June 15, at the New Hanover County Courthouse.

Only the prosecution and the defense for Green presented their closing arguments today due to time constraints. Green’s attorney focused on the fact that the state has no physical evidence tying Green to the murders.

His attorney reiterated the phrase “say, not shown,” as the prosecution was not able to show any forensic evidence. The defense said there is no evidence that Green was at the murder scene or that he was with defendant Bell or the convicted Raquel Adams at all.

The prosecution relied heavily on digital evidence again today, looking at text messages of Green and Bell telling each other to delete their messages and to stop talking to people. The state also presented a jail phone call between Bell and one of the victim’s sisters, saying he got caught up in the wrong crowd.

Bell’s attorney will present closing arguments on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
