Suspect identified in early morning Dawson Street shooting
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that happened early Sunday in Wilmington.
According to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD), Marvin Singleton, 46, was arrested on March 11 and charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and parole violation.
Singleton allegedly shot and killed 26-year-old Demetria Ingram on March 8, WPD said.

WPD said officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 1300 block of Dawson Street just before 1:25 a.m. on Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found Ingram with a gunshot wound and she later died of her injuries, WPD said.
WPD detectives are seeking witnesses and information on what happened.
“It is known that dozens of people were present. Detectives are actively investigating leads, but want as much information as possible, as any detail can help,” WPD officials wrote in a press release.
WPD officials said they believe this was an isolated incident.
During his first court appearance, Singleton was appointed a public defender. He is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Center under no bond.
