Paid parking begins at many New Hanover County beaches

The start of tourist season is just around the corner, and with it comes the return of paid parking for tourists and locals alike.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - The start of tourist season is just around the corner, and with it comes the return of paid parking for tourists and locals alike.

Surf City

Depending on the lot you choose, parking in Surf City will cost you $3 to $6 an hour. The paid parking season starts on March 1.

Wrightsville Beach

According to the Wrightsville Beach website’s FAQ, paid parking starts on March 1. Premium lots and spaces are $6 an hour, or $30 for a daily pass. All other spaces are $5 an hour or $25 a day.

Carolina Beach

Carolina Beach will have paid parking on Sunday, March 1.

  • Parking Lots $6 per hour or $25 per day
  • Premium Parking Lots $7 per hour or $35 per day
  • Bus, Limo, and oversized vehicle $10 per hour or $40 per day

On-Street Parking:

  • Without Time Restrictions: $5 per hour
  • With Time Restrictions: $5 per hour

Kure Beach

Paid parking will begin on March 15 in Kure Beach. According to the Town of Kure Beach website, parking rates are $6 an hour and $25 per day.

Fort Fisher

Parking at Fort Fisher is always free.

Brunswick County

Paid parking season starts across the county on April 1.

Sunset Beach, Oak Island and Ocean Isle Beach charge $5 an hour and $20 a day.

Caswell Beach doesn’t charge for parking, but there are few if any public spaces there.
