Homeowner chases after robbery suspect

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office apprehended a man they say broke into a residence and was chased after by the homeowner Tuesday night.

According to officials, deputies responded to the 300 block of Hedingham Lane near Carolina Beach Road around 8:30 p.m. about a breaking and entering in progress.

Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with the victim, Donald Gore, who said he came home to find a white male inside his house exiting out the back door. Gore said he gave chase but the suspect jumped a fence and he lost him.

Deputies searched the neighbor and located a man fitting the description of the suspect. The victim made a positive identification of the suspect and deputies arrested him.

Brandon Ferdinando, 23, was charged with breaking and entering and larceny.
