Cape Fear Hero: Dr. Ken White

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – There are many doctors in the Wilmington area who help residents in the Cape Fear area, but Dr. Ken White of Wilmington Plastic Surgery goes above and beyond the call of duty.  Not only is he involved in a number of project in the Port City, he has provided medical assistance in other parts of the world.

White recently led two medical mission trips to the earthquake stricken country of Haiti as part of his efforts with Medical Missionaries Inc.  He organized a medical clinic to help treat Haitians injured by the January 12 quake.

Next weekend, White will return to the Dominican Republic for his 19th mission trip there.

"In the United States, you can get a very, sort of, colored view of what life is rally like and about," said White. "And if you go and do this, like in a third world country, you can get a vision of the world that you can't get any other way."

So for his dedication to those who need medical treatments here at home, plus in foreign locations, WECT is honored to name Dr. Ken White as our Cape Fear Hero this month.
