Jasmina Alston

Jasmina Alston is an Emmy award-winning reporter at Atlanta News First. She reports Monday through Friday for the evening newscasts.

Jasmina began her news career as the political reporter for WDHN in Dothan, Alabama, covering state and local politics. She was also a multimedia journalist at ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, Alabama. There, she managed the East Alabama bureau.

Since joining Atlanta News First in 2017, Jasmina has covered several major stories, including the 2020 George Floyd protests, the moment two college students were tased and arrested by Atlanta police during those protests, resulting in a $2 million settlement from the City of Atlanta. Jasmina won an Emmy award for her coverage of that incident. She has also reported on several high-profile court cases, including the RICO trial of Atlanta rapper Young Thug and the sex trafficking RICO trial of Atlanta rapper Ca$h Out.

Most recently, Jasmina received two Emmy nominations for her reporting on the Apalachee High School mass shooting and a major water main break in Atlanta.

Jasmina is originally from Germany and grew up in Augusta, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia State University in 2014, where she studied communications with a minor in the Arabic language.
