WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Fall officially arrives at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday and, appropriately, temps will trend down this week. Expect highs near 89 Monday, 85 Tuesday, 80 Wednesday, and 77 Thursday and Friday.

Rain chances will accompany the transition, 50% Tuesday, 40% Wednesday, 50% Thursday, and 10% Friday. Any rain cells will tend to drift from north to south as low pressure sharpens off the Outer Banks.

In the tropics, well, technically, subtropics, Fay will swirl over the open eastern Atlantic early this week. Initially at borderline tropical storm and hurricane strength, Fay ought to dissipate amid high wind shear by midweek.
