String of car break-ins reported across Holden Beach neighborhoods

HOLDEN BEACH, N.C. (WECT) - A rash of overnight vehicle break-ins has prompted Holden Beach police to team up with Shallotte investigators as they search for suspects and possible additional victims.

According to the Holden Beach Police Department, officers responded to multiple reports of broken-into cars across several neighborhoods between Wednesday night, Sept. 16, and Thursday morning, Sept. 17. Investigators are working to identify who is responsible and believe more victims may not realize their cars were targeted yet.

The department is asking residents and visitors to check their home security, doorbell and surveillance cameras for any suspicious people or cars seen during the overnight hours.

Anyone who spots suspicious activity on video, notices missing items or discovers their car, home or storage shed has been broken into should call 911 immediately.

The Holden Beach Police Department asks residents to lock all vehicle and house doors, secure storage areas and keep valuables out of sight.
