Teen identified in Wilmington apartment shooting near Carolina Beach Road

The Wilmington Police Department has identified the 17-year-old arrested in a shooting at an apartment complex last month.

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The Wilmington Police Department has identified the 17-year-old arrested in a shooting at an apartment complex last month.

According to warrants, Kamirion Shipley, now 18, was arrested for shooting a .45 caliber handgun into a Nissan Altima with three people inside. Shipley is also charged with shooting at a Dodge Dart with two adults and four minors inside.

According to WPD, officers responded to the Starway Village on Conley Drive shortly after 3:30 p.m. on May 5 following reports of gunfire.

Police said two people reportedly exchanged gunfire in the parking lot and then left before the arrival of officers. No one was hurt, according to authorities.

WECT previously reported on this incident in May, before authorities released the name of the teen involved.

Sabrina Tindall, 39, was also arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with felony accessory after the fact.

Shipley is charged with:

  • Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling/Moving Vehicle (2 counts)
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
  • Discharge Firearm in City

Shipley’s first court hearing was May 11 and his bond is set at $200,000.
