WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has approved season dates, bag limits and regulations for the 2026-27 waterfowl, webless migratory game bird seasons and extended falconry seasons.

Most seasons are unchanged from last year, but the commission made several updates:

  • Canada geese: The daily bag limit in the Northeast Hunt Zone increases from one to two, pending final federal approval of the 2026-27 regulations.
  • Regular Light Goose Season: Opens Nov. 7. After all other waterfowl seasons close Feb. 6, 2027, the commission says hunters may use expanded methods for light geese, including unplugged guns and electronic calls. The season closes March 10, 2027.
  • Light Goose Conservation Order: A decision on the 2027 conservation order will be made in fall 2026 and posted on the commission’s website.
