ATLANTA (ANF/Gray News) - A woman in Georgia died in a freak accident while vacationing in Puerto Rico.

Tamirah Dix, 40, died after an accident during a zip-line excursion.

“Very tragic. I’m thinking she’s going to enjoy her time with her boyfriend and her family, and we just never expected to hear this news,” her friend Janee Hebron said. “And now I’m waiting for her to come over and, ‘Hey Janee,’ and I’m just not going to feel that again, so it’s just very sad.”

Dix’s family describes her death as a “freak accident.”

The investigation is still ongoing, but preliminary information points to her accidentally hitting her head.

Hebron describes Dix as a sweet soul who always had a smile on her face. The women grew up together in Marietta.

“She was always supportive, she was always here and present, always smiling,” Hebron said. “She was always in a good mood.”

Dix’s loved ones are trying to bring her home and have started a GoFundMe to help with a service.
