WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The City of Wilmington has announced the new date for its groundbreaking ceremony for the Dawson and Wooster Streetscape Project.

The groundbreaking was originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4, but was postponed due to weather concerns.

It will now be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at 839 Virgie Rhodes Lane.

The project will bring improvements along the two major corridors, including new sidewalks, pavement upgrades, ADA enhancements, landscaping and pedestrian amenities.

The improvements are designed to create safer and more convenient walking options and strengthen connectivity between neighborhoods, commercial areas and essential services, according to project officials

The project was awarded a construction contract worth $5.76 million, according to the City of Wilmington’s website.

Project details
