UPDATE: Husband charged in deadly shooting of his own wife in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A woman was found inside a home with a gunshot wound on Friday, Dec. 12, according to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD). Saturday, Dec. 13, police announced she died of her injuries.
That woman has now been identified as Ebony Boles. Police have charged her husband, 58-year-old Michael Tyrone Loyde, with her murder.
Officers say they responded to a 911 call at around 3:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Bladen Street. They say Loyde had fled from the scene before officers could arrive.
EMS personnel took Boles to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.
WPD said they spotted Loyde around 10:30 p.m. on Castle Street. He attempted to run from officers, but they were able to take him into custody.
WPD officials said this investigation is now closed. Loyde is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Center with no bond.
He is expected to appear in court Monday, Dec. 15.
