Wings Over Carolina Beach airshow cancelled due to weather

CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) - The Wings Over Carolina Beach airshow scheduled to take flight Saturday, Dec. 6, has been cancelled.

“Due to unfavorable weather conditions that affect both Friday’s essential setup activities (getting vessels in the water, placing buoys, and welcoming performers) and Saturday’s air show window, the Wings Over Carolina Beach Airshow has been cancelled,” wrote Wilmington International Airport (ILM) in an update to Facebook.

The show was supposed to feature aerial performances by Chris Thomas of Warbird Thunder, Rooster Schmidle, RJ Gritter Airshows, and Warbird Thunder Airshows, as well as the playing of the U.S. National Anthem and flyovers.

ILM states they will be hosting a “bigger and better” air show in the Spring of 2026.
