WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Victim testimony enters its second week in the trial of Michael Hasson, who was arrested in 2019 on allegations that he sexually assaulted over 20 patients while they were under anesthesia.

He faces 30 charges, including indecent liberties with a child, sexual battery, statutory rape, and second-degree forcible sex offense, and the victims range in age from 12 to 60 years old.

Over ten have testified, including former patients, friends, and family members.

On Monday, the youngest who testified was just thirteen when she claimed Hasson sexually assaulted her while she was getting her wisdom teeth out.

Hasson was in the courtroom as the alleged victims shared their experiences.

During their testimonies, many former patients said they were referred to Hasson by their dentist.

Some former patients recounted their experiences, saying they woke up during and after surgery to Hasson touching their genitals.

Others said after the surgery was over, they felt pain in their groin.

One woman said she woke up to her pants twisted, instantly knowing something was wrong.

During her testimony, she said, “I didn’t know what to think or what to do. I never expected something like that to happen.”

Some former patients also said they did not initially come forward after the alleged abuse, and it was not until after the news of Hasson’s arrest that they contacted police.

According to court officials, Hasson’s trial is expected to last months.

Hasson has been out of jail since he posted bond back in 2019.
