Sheriff’s office: Woman dies in Bladen County shooting

BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - A 63-year-old woman died in a shooting Thursday night in Riegelwood, according to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, the Bladen County 911 Center received a call shortly before 9 p.m. about a person getting shot in the 18000 block of NC 87 Hwy East.

Officials say that the victim, Sylvia Brown, was found dead at the scene.

“This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public,” the post states. “The investigation is continuing. No further information is available at this time. Updates will be released as they become available.”
