Former New Hanover Co. Commission Chairwoman disbarred by NC State Bar
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Former New Hanover County Commission Chairwoman Julia Olson-Boseman has been disbarred by the N.C. State Bar.
In 2022, the North Carolina State Bar (NCSB) launched an investigation into the allegations that Olson-Boseman mishandled clients’ funds.
According to documents from the N.C. State Bar, Olson-Boseman signed an affidavit tendering the surrender of her license on Nov. 20, 2023. In the affidavit, she acknowledges “the material facts upon which the grievance is predicated are true“ and that she would not be able to successfully defend against the allegations.
“I am aware that there is presently pending an investigation including allegations that I misappropriated entrusted funds, grossly abdicated my trust account management obligations, made misrepresentations to the State Bar during a grievance investigation, made a misrepresentation to the court, engaged in contempt of court, engaged in a conflict of interest, collected clearly excessive feed, and neglected a client, in violation of the North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct,” the signed document states.
“I acknowledge that the material facts upon which the grievance is predicated are true. My resignation is being submitted because I know that if charges were predicated upon the misconduct under investigation, I could not successfully defend against them.”
A. Todd Brown, president of the N.C. State Bar, signed the Order of Disbarment on Jan. 19, 2024.
