Late-night fire erupts at Wilmington mulch facility(WECT)

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A fire erupted at Seaside Mulch late Thursday evening, sending emergency crews to the facility off Market Street.

Emergency crews were called at 11:46 p.m. on June 25 to a fire that engulfed a mulch pile and damaged a conveyor belt at the business, according to the New Hanover County Fire Rescue.

Fire crews said they were able to contain the blaze to the mulch pile and machinery, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the facility. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under control, according to Mike Cooper, Battalion Chief with the Wilmington Fire Department.

WECT crews are currently at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to officials.
