5-year-old girl dies after falling from playscape
HARWINTON, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) - A 5-year-old kindergarten student from Connecticut has died from injuries she sustained in a playscape accident.
The victim was identified in a statement from the Town of Harwinton as Olivia Videtto, a kindergarten student at Harwinton Consolidated School.
Connecticut State Police responded to a home Sunday afternoon for a report of a child who had fallen from a playscape and had a head injury, according to CT Insider. The girl was flown in a Life Star helicopter to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.
“There are no words that can adequately express the sorrow felt by our community,” said First Selectman Michael R. Criss in the town’s statement. “Olivia’s loss is being felt deeply by her family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.”
The town extended condolences to Olivia’s family and said her classmates, school staff and the entire community are in their thoughts and prayers.
“As a community, let us come together to support one another, hold our loved ones a little closer, and keep Olivia and her family in our hearts,” Criss said.
