Wawa announces opening date for first store in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Wawa, a nationwide gas station and convenience store chain, is opening its first location in New Hanover County.
“We are excited to spread our wings to Wilmington and bring our unique combination of fresh food and beverage, convenience and service to this region for the very first time,” said Brian Schaller, President of Wawa. “This continues our ongoing growth in North Carolina, allowing us to fulfill more lives, create new jobs and strengthen community partnerships.”
The company dates back over 200 years, starting as a door-to-door milk delivery service that led to the first store opening in 1964.
The Wilmington location will open to the public on Friday, May 29, at 6800 Carolina Beach Rd.
The new location is situated across from the intersection of Carolina Beach Road and Myrtle Grove Road, near the Circle K.
