ATLANTA (ANF/Gray News) - A Georgia family is calling for justice after a grandmother attending a wake was killed in a drive-by shooting outside a funeral home.

Ina Chambers’ family was mourning her shocking loss two days after the 55-year-old was killed in a drive-by shooting outside the Gus Thornhill Funeral Home in East Point. Joined by friends, they released balloons Sunday outside their DeKalb County home.

“They came for her,” said Phil Chambers, Ina’s husband.

“She was vibrant. She was the life of the party,” said Efrem Jenkins, Ina’s older brother.

Chambers was with her daughter and two grandchildren at a family wake Friday. Her family says she had just stepped outside for some air when she was shot and killed.

“Just no words. The family is small, and it’s getting even smaller by the day,” Jenkins said. “Gun control is one thing, but control your kids. And if they’re not kids, they’re young adults: listen, you’re ruining your lives, and you’re taking our lives.”

No one was in custody for killing Chambers and injuring another woman, as of Sunday evening.

“At this point, it’s hard for us to wrap our mind around any of that. It’s just a couple of days in, and you don’t want anger. But we need justice, and we want justice,” Jenkins said.

Chambers worked in insurance, and her brother says she was a biblical woman.

“If you’re out there doing senseless things like this, just know the world goes in a circle and it does come back around, you just never know how. So, please stop,” Jenkins said.

East Point Police say multiple suspects were involved in the shooting. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could be helpful is asked to call East Point Police Communications at (404) 761-2170.
