MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Police found over 200 pounds of marijuana and a pistol while searching a Myrtle Beach home on Tuesday.

Officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department Street Crimes Unit arrested Thomas Devitis, 69, after searching the home.

Devitis is being charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and trafficking in marijuana.

These charges come after a search warrant was executed for the home, finding a pistol and 208.2 pounds of a “green leafy substance” in heat-sealed black bags inside cardboard boxes, the warrants say.

Officers identified the substance as marijuana from training and experience, warrants say Devitis also made a statement stating that it was marijuana after being read his rights.

Devitis is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $275,000 bond, jail records show.
