Second suspect arrested in connection to deadly shooting in New Hanover County
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in New Hanover County where deputies arrested a 16-year-old.
According to warrants, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office (NHCSO) arrested Jamail Tramble on Tuesday, Feb. 12 for his alleged role in the shooting death of 27-year-old Nathaniel Turner.
Turner was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in his apartment at Meridian Village Apartments on Sunday, Feb. 9.
A 24-year-old woman was also found shot multiple times and taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center by EMS. She is currently in stable condition.
911 calls obtained by WECT indicate the caller was someone injured in the shooting. The caller told the dispatcher two people came in and started stealing from the apartment.
Caller: “Two boys came in here looking for us, they started taking everything in the apartment and we don’t have no money ma’am. And when they couldn’t find anything, they just shot us. Please ma’am, please, I’m shot.”
Dispatcher: ‘Is the assailant still nearby?’
Caller: “No the people is gone ma’am. When we told them we didn’t have any money, they just shot me, they shot at me several times.”
The caller told dispatch her boyfriend was on the ground and not moving and they didn’t know where they were hit by gunfire.
Deputies also arrested a 16-year-old for first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Tramble has been charged with:
- First-degree murder
- Attempted first-degree murder
- Robbery with a dangerous weapon
- Felony conspiracy
According to warrants, Tramble conspired with the 16-year-old to murder Turner, attempted to murder the second victim, and stole Turner’s phone.
Tramble is currently being held without bond. His next court appearance is Feb. 26.
