Another 79 rip current rescues reported in New Hanover County

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - At least 79 rip current rescues were reported in New Hanover County on Friday, July 5.

On Friday, there were 60 rescues in Wrightsville Beach, 13 in Carolina Beach and six at Kure Beach.

Thursday had at least 70 rescues, including 35 rescues at Wrightsville Beach and 35 more at Carolina Beach. On Wednesday, 17 rip current rescues were made by Carolina Beach Ocean Rescue.

The rip current risk is high for New Hanover and Pender counties and moderate for Brunswick County on Friday, per the National Weather Service.
