NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office has fired a deputy following an internal investigation.
According to documents released by the sheriff's office, Deputy Michael Murray was fired for allegedly not being truthful and for violating the sheriff's office standard of conduct.
Few details have been released about the actual incident that prompted the internal investigation, but it reportedly occurred June 29 at 3 a.m. while Murray was on duty.
Officials with the sheriff's office say the investigation was started after a complaint was received from a female in the community, but that no laws were broken.
This isn't the first time that Murray has faced disciplinary issues with the sheriff's office. In January, he was given a written reprimand for insubordination and neglect of duty.
In 2012, he was suspended for four days without pay for several violations of department policy.
