WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The newest grocery addition to the Cape Fear Area is getting ready to celebrate in style.
This Friday at 8 a.m. is the official lei cutting at Trader Joe's at the corner of S. College Rd. and Oleander Dr.
WECT got a special sneak peek inside Tuesday and saw workers still setting up the store. Inside you could find various imported and local specialty chocolates, wines, beer and plenty more to keep bellies happy.
The Regional Vice President Jim Poppe said Trader Joe's prides itself on selling items that have been taste tested and are free of preservatives. As far as being a store unique to Wilmington, from the painted murals on the wall to the employees -- Wilmington is threaded throughout the store.
"80, 90% of this crew is from Wilmington, so they're going to teach us about this area and this very cool city we're about to do business in," said Poppe
Opening day there will also be live music, food demonstrations, and grocery raffles all day. The store will be open from 8 a.m.- 9 p.m daily.
