Forum Held to Get Public Opinion of Wilmington Fire Department

MAY 23, 2006 -- Wilmington residents apparently don't have much to say about the Wilmington Fire Department.

About 30 people turned out for a forum on Tuesday night at the library downtown. Firefighters made for most of the crowd at the forum.

Consultants hired by the city wanted to find out what residents think about the department.

Last week, many in the department joined forces to say they need more equipment.

They have also asked for better pay.

One former fire fighter says the main concern is the aftermath of the analysis in the department.

The opinions expressed on Tuesday will be included in the analysis of the department compiled by the consultants.
