Wrightsville Beach doing Sewer Line Assessment

MARCH 24, 2006 -- After Wilmington has had so many problems with it's sewer system, Wrightsville Beach is remaining proactive.

Wrightsville Beach Public Works Department started inspecting its sewer lines in February by using a camera that can crawl through the lines.

Some of the lines date back 70 years.

Public Works director Mike Vukelich says that for the most part the pipes are clean but there are some problem areas.

Wrightsville Beach has more than 18 miles of sewer line.

They're trying to inspect a minimum of 10% of the lines each year.
