MARCH 9, 2006 -- The man accused in an assault and arson case in Wilmington has turned himself in. Jermaine Pompey is now facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon and arson.
Authorities say Pompey attacked his girlfriend, 19-year-old Mary Deschamps, Tuesday afternoon in her home at the corner of Castle and 19th Streets. They say he stabbed her in the back and when she left to get help, he set her house on fire.
