WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Airlie Gardens will remain closed until further notice as crews work to make repairs after Hurricane Florence.
The Director of Parks and Gardens is mobilizing all resources to get the gardens cleaned up and ready for visitors, but Enchanted Airlie ticket sales will be delayed at this point.
Their goal is to re-open by the end of October or early November.
Parks and Gardens Director Tara Duckworth said the Airlie Oak, Pergola, Bottle Chapel and Butterfly are all in good shape. The Gnome Invasion was safely evacuated to the classroom in the Garden Services Center, so stay tuned for a potential return of the Gnomes.
While Airlie won't be able to reschedule the concert scheduled for Sept. 21, they plan to invite Jim Quick and the Coastline Band to perform next summer.
Duckworth said the Oyster Roast will still take place as planned and is already sold out.
The New Hanover County Free Day scheduled for Oct. 7, however, has been canceled due to damage at Airlie, the Arboretum and the Cape Fear Museum.
