BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Flood water still inundates homes near the back end of the Stoney Creek Plantation subdivision off Hwy 17 in Brunswick County.

More than a dozen homes were flooded after water from the Morgan Branch Creek area rose rapidly over the weekend.

"Never did I think this stuff would rise at one foot an hour," Tom Meyer, a flood victim, said. "We went to bed, it was after nine at night, I had no water in the house, at 3 in the morning I wake up to hear all the furniture flipping over as it started floating all over the place."

Meyer and his daughter were rescued by a neighbor as the water rose to the second story of their home.

Now he hopes the water recedes soon, but he knows the cleanup won't be easy.

"I'm broke, I'm broken in the street man, so I don't know, I really just don't know," Meyer said.

Dozens of other homes closer to Hwy 17 did not flood, but residents there are still waiting on power to be restored.
