BALD HEAD ISLAND, NC (WECT) - Several events will make Bald Head Island a destination for tourists and locals this fall.
Bald Head Island invites you to explore there in the coming months and take advantage of cooler fall weather and the exodus of the summer crowds.
Tours of Old Baldy Lighthouse are Monday through Saturday. The lighthouse was constructed in 1817, making it North Carolina's oldest standing lighthouse. Climb all 108 stairs for a 360 degree view of the Cape Fear River estuary.
There are also Bald Head Island Historic Tours, which are two hours and take visitors around the island on a golf cart with an experienced guide.
The tours are Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays beginning when the 10 a.m. ferry departing from Southport arrives on Bald Head Island.
Roast & Toast on the Coast is Saturday, October 6, a cookout by famed pitmaster Matt Register featuring bluegrass music from Massive Grass.
Additionally, Historic Happy Hours are every fourth Wednesday of the month on the Old Baldy Lighthouse grounds and includes wine, beer, snacks, and a curator's tour of the Old Baldy Foundation's permanent collection.
The Then & Now Home Tour is Saturday, November 4 and provides visitors with the opportunity to tour private homes on Bald Head Island. The event benefits Old Baldy Foundation.
