WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Volunteers will stuff backpacks full of items to give to some of the most vulnerable children in our community.
The Ban the Bags and Fill the Packs event is an effort to help the more than 450 foster children in New Hanover County.
Many haul their personal items to foster homes in a black trash bag.
The organizers of the event want to make sure the children have backpacks and other items they need.
Donations are being accepted Monday, Aug 20, until 7:00 p.m. at the Husk in downtown Wilmington.
At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at Dram + Morsel, volunteers will fill the backpacks to prepare them for distribution through the Foster Pantry of Wilmington.
