Hulu series set to film in Wilmington in September.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A new film production has opened offices at Screen Gems Studios, with plans to begin production in Wilmington next month.

Wilmington Regional Film Commissioner Johnny Griffin confirmed the latest developments Monday. He said A&E will produce the series called Reprisal, which is set to air on Hulu.

According to multiple industry reports, actress Abigail Spencer has been cast as the lead in Reprisal. She currently stars in the NBC series Timeless, which was recently canceled after two seasons but will be brought back for a two-part series finale.

David Dastmalchian of MacGyver and Twin Peaks, Rhys Wakefield of True Detective, and Mena Massoud of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan are also listed as cast members.

According to TVLine.com, Spencer will play Katherine Harlow, a woman who was left for dead but survives and takes up the new persona of Doris Dearie. After years of peace and quiet, her niece is taken by the same gang that tried to kill her, which prompts Doris to go on a revenge-filled rescue mission.

Warren Littlefield is Reprisal's executive producer. Littlefield's most recent claim to fame is as executive producer of Hulu's wildly successful show The Handmaid's Tale. The Emmy award winner also produced Fargo.
