Brunswick Co. man pleads guilty to murder in death of 15-month-old
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A Brunswick County man was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder in the 2015 death of his girlfriend's 15-month-old son.
Albert David Morgan III pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury in the death of Brayden Christopher Ray in January 2015.
Morgan was sentenced to 360-450 months in prison.
On Jan. 15, Morgan and the child's mother, Angel Ray, brought the child to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Brayden was transported to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he later died on Jan. 17, 2015.
Angel Ray previously pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact and will have a sentencing hearing in August or September.

Arrest warrants for Morgan say that Brayden had multiple abrasions and contusions about the face, neck and body along with head trauma resulting in bleeding in the brain.
