PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Fishermen Marcelle Bowen, 42, and Christopher Murphy, 29, were reported missing Thursday evening, according to the Pender County Sheriff's Office.

Units from Pender EMS and Fire searched near Riley's Creek on NC Hwy 210 for the two men.

Bowen was recovered from the water just after midnight, followed by Murphy around 1:30 a.m.

Bowen and Murphy were cousins.

No foul play is suspected, but the investigation is ongoing.

Rowell says they both drowned and no foul play suspected. He believes one of the victims had medical issues when the other went into the water to rescue them, resulting in both drownings.

The investigation is ongoing.
