Planning board approves permit application for new Wrightsville Beach ABC store
A new 7,500 square foot ABC store is planned at 7000 Wrightsville Avenue.

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - Wrightsville Beach approved rezoning for a new ABC store during Tuesday's planning board meeting.

The board voted 4-0 in favor of a conditional use permit application for a new 7,500 square foot ABC store on property at 7000 Wrightsville Avenue. An existing 2,100 square foot ABC store at 6730 Wrightsville Avenue will be de-annexed.

Land for the proposed ABC store will need to be annexed into the Town of Wrightsville Beach since 7000 Wrightsville Avenue is currently in the City of Wilmington.

Before the permit vote, the board unanimously approved changing ABC package and retail from a conditional use in the C5 zoning district to conditional use with supplemental regulations.

The project needs the approval of town aldermen, who are scheduled to meet June 14.

Vivian "Zeke" Partin abstained because of her connection to ABC and planning board member Thomas Cofer was not at the meeting.
