WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - One out of eight couples struggles to conceive.
This week marks National Infertility Awareness Week, which unites millions of Americans who want to remove stigmas that stand in the way of building families.
Wilmington recently made strides to help grow families.
Zach and Tristen Dotsey welcomed their little bundles of joy into the world in February. They are among the first couples to conceive with the help of the first clinic offering in vitro fertilization in Wilmington.
The Dotseys tried for a baby for two years and when it didn't happen, they turned to Dr. Karenne Fru of Coastal Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, who started offering IFV last year.
Zach and Tristen were two of Fru's first successful patients and now they're enjoying life with adorable twin boys, Phoenix and Fawkes.
The twins were born on February 10.
