WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A dry high pressure system should continue to keep rain chances low Sunday, but they'll perk up early next week as low pressure swirls into the Carolinas.

SUNDAY: Cool yet comfortable temperatures start out in the 40s and 50s just before daybreak. Otherwise, enjoy mostly sunny skies Sunday throughout the day and variably clouds skies overnight. Afternoon highs will peak near 70 and lows are projected to be in the 50s.
EARLY NEXT WEEK: An unsettled pattern will develop Monday through midweek. Rain chances will spike to 50% Monday, 70% Monday night and Tuesday Cool daytime highs will be in the upper 60s to near 70 and lows will mainly be in the 50s.
EXTENDED FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS: Low end rain chances will carry through the end of the work week, around 30-40% Wednesday, 20-30% Thursday and 10-20% Friday. Temperatures will trend a touch warmer, mainly in the middle 70s to close the work week.
