NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Voters in New Hanover County will once again get an opportunity to head to the polls after church on at least one Sunday this year.
The North Carolina State Board of Elections approved New Hanover's early voting plan Wednesday. The plan designated the second Sunday of the early voting period, April 29th, as an option. Voters can cast their ballot at the New Hanover County Government Center on that day between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Citizens were first able to vote on Sunday locally in the 2016 election. That year, the NAACP ran a caravan to the polls for people to exercise their right.
The early voting period runs from April 19th to May 5th. Besides the Government Center, one stop voting locations include the Health Sciences Building at Cape Fear Community College, Northeast Regional Library, New Hanover County Senior Resource Center and Carolina Beach Town Hall.
