Water outages to affect some Forest Hill residents
The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will start flushing maintenance for the summer beginning Tuesday, May 29.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Residents in the Forest Hills area are expected to experience water outages on Tuesday and Wednesday as crews with Cape Fear Public Utility Authority replace old and damaged water main valves throughout the area.

The work will affect approximately 200 customers at the following addresses:

  • 2600-2800 block Wrightsville Avenue
  • Essex Drive
  • Princeton Drive
  • East Forest Hills Drive
  • Harvard Drive
  • Cambridge Drive
  • 2700-2900 block Park Avenue
  • 1300-1400 block South Live Oak Parkway
  • 2800-2900 block Hydrangea Place
  • 2800-2900 block Oleander Drive
  • 1300-1400 block Hawthorne Road

CFPUA advises residents in the affected areas to boil their drinking water once service returns.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the water system. CFPUA customers in the above-described area are asked to boil their water for one minute, allow it to cool before consumption, and store the cooled water in a clean container with a cover.

Customers can also utilize another water source such as bottled water.

Affected customers should use boiled water that has cooled or bottled water for:

  • Drinking.
  • Brushing teeth.
  • Washing fruits and vegetables.
  • Preparing food and baby formula.
  • Making ice.
  • Giving to pets.

Customers do NOT need to boil water before using it for showering or bathing.

This precautionary boil advisory will be in effect until water quality testing has occurred and service is returned to normal.
