WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Pointe at Barclay is quickly becoming the place to be in midtown Wilmington.
When the Pointe first opened, it was just a movie theater. Far From France gift store and Duck Donuts followed, but now there are multiple shopping and entertainment options, and more are on the way.
In a small block of space, shoppers and diners can experience different cultures, from French pastries to authentic Mexican at Zocalo to Italian at Il Forno.
Tavern on 17th has also opened in the past few months. All of these restaurants have patio dining, making them the perfect spot for lounging around outside after a movie.
A nail salon has also opened in the past few months.
Construction is happening every day at the Pointe. An Orange Theory Fitness, Starbucks with a drive-thru, and Peno Mediterranean restaurant will open soon.
Zocalo Assistant Manager Alexa Diaz says the Pointe's set-up makes it easy for businesses to collaborate and support one another.
"This area right here, we basically kind of know each other from the pizzeria to the doughnuts," Diaz said. "It's something new, it's something different and we're always expecting something new to happen."
