WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - Wrightsville Beach held it's seventh annual Surf-to-Sound stand-up paddleboard (SUP) competition over the weekend.

This year's event drew in people from seven different states. Among the athletes was a three-time SUP Olympian. He said he enjoys coming to this particular competition because he just gets to have a good time.

Larry Cain, a stand-up paddle board athlete from Canada who has been paddling for 42 years, said he loves coming Wrightsville beach for the event.

"I've been here numerous times for this event but also for the Carolina Cup," said Cain. "The most exciting thing I am looking forward to today is getting in the water, getting the race started, enjoying a good paddle and getting it finished."

This year, all proceeds of the event went to the North Carolina Coastal Federation.
