WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - The Wrightsville Performance Sailing (WPS) will hold their annual on-water fundraising event on November 5.
WPS is offering one and a half hour group sails for individuals or groups up to five people. The cost is $59 per person. One hundred percent of sales and gratuity directly benefit the mission of the LITE program.
The Leading Into New Communities (LINC) LITE (LINC's Initiative to Educate), program that all sales and gatuity will go towards is an enrichment program for African American males, ages, 16-21. The goal of the program is to reduce barriers in education and/or employment. The program allows for youth to remain enrolled in school and avoid direct involvement with the juvenile justice system. Students experience a supportive group culture, learn appropriate leadership skills, acceptable school and community behavior, and gain both self confidence and self-esteem.
WPS Owner and Captain, Dustin Frye, says they are excited to support the mission of LINC's LITE program through the sailing cruises. "The efforts of the LITE program in the Wilmington community should be brought to the forefront of public awareness as this active organization is working to better the lives of those in our community, " said Frye.
Wrightsville Performance Sailing offers cruises, charters and lessons regardless of the level of experience. Their J/80 sport sailboat will take you around Wrightsville Beach's iconic shoreline in the waters of Banks Channel, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.
