WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The man accused of murdering a 21-year-old pregnant woman at a Wilmington hotel used a knife to rob her of her cell phone, according to arrest warrants.

Wilmington police arrested Tevin Demetrius Vann, 24, late Tuesday for the murder of Ashley Ann Mclean, who was found by housekeeping in a room at the Best Western on Market Street on Aug. 12. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The document did not indicate how Vann killed Mclean. The Wilmington Police Department has not released a cause of death for Mclean.

Vann made his first court appearance Wednesday. The judge ordered he be held in the New Hanover County Jail under no bond, and told him the maximum penalty he could face would be death, depending on what the District Attorney's Office decides.
