SUNSET BEACH, NC (WECT) - The funerals for a father and son who died in an accident along our coast will be held this weekend.
John Wernowsky, 51, and his son, Jake, 10, died in a jet ski accident Friday in Sunset Beach.
Services for the father and son will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4 at North Metro Church in Marietta, Georgia. The Wernowsky family lived in Acworth, Georgia.
According to the obituaries, posted by the West Cobb Funeral Home, John Wernowsky was a business owner and was involved with several charitable organizations, including the Tim Tebow Foundation, Life without Limbs and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The obituary states, "John was proud to admit to watching romantic movies with his wife Debbie, cheesy movies with his daughter Makenna and superhero movies with his boys Kole and Jake. He was so proud of his children and boasted about them all the time."
Jake Wernowsky was a lacrosse player and attended Midway Covenant Christian School.
"Jake was a master of wit, always wore a smile that lit up a room. He was a peacemaker with a sweet, compassionate and unending heart," according to his obituary. "He loved his family so much and repeatedly reminded them day and night."
