May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
More celebrities are opening up and talking about their battle with mental health issues.
Last month, actress Kristen Bell talked about suffering from anxiety and depression.
Karin Kassab, a local psychologist and co-owner of Clarity Counseling Center, said celebrities sharing their stories about mental illness only helps promote awareness and break down stigmas.
"Celebrities are often the catalyst for more open, honest discussion about mental illness," she said. "It makes it more likely that those suffering will seek the help."
Kassab talked about mental health on WECT News First at Four Thursday.
