1 man in hospital after early morning shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Police in Wilmington are investigating a shooting that happened early Saturday morning.

According to WPD spokeswoman Linda Rawley, it happened around 3:30 a.m. at the 700 block of South Ninth Street.

The victim went outside to check on his air conditioning unit because it was making a weird noise. He was then shot by an unknown person.

He was taken to the hospital; there is no update on the extent of his injuries.

He did not give a description of the alleged shooter. No suspects have been identified at this time.
