WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Many new projects are underway at the State Port in Wilmington.
The Port is developing a pellet facility, which will help with the process of exporting wood products to Europe, and other areas.
Europe uses the wood pellets as their power generation source.
This project is expected to be completed in September of 2016, and will store pellets before they are moved.
Another project underway is the cold storage unit which is a refrigerated warehouse that will be built at the State Port in Wilmington,
The cold storage unit is expected to be up by summer, and will be used to store meats or anything that may spoil before it is transported.
More than 76,000 jobs within the state of North Carolina are associated with business that come through the port.
