WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Snipes Academy Dribbling All-Star team performed during halftime of the UNCW Basketball game today - part of an ongoing initiative by Snipes to teach kids and give them an outlet for growth.

"A lot of times, kids or young people get accolades for things they're already great at," said David Rutledge, the head coach of the program. 'This is something they learn from scratch, and so they get to show that in front of all these people and get to see you get out what you put in."

The players perform dribbling trick with one and two basketballs, while also dancing to songs, from Queen's We Will Rock You, to current hits like the Nae Nae, Hit the Quan, and more.

"I like performing and being a part of something," said Isiah, who completed a back flip in front of thousands on the court today. "It's cool."

Rutledge is trying to find a way to get the team to a Hornets game to perform at a halftime show, but Charlotte's policies for teams is making that scenario financially difficult. "Even to go to somewhere like Chapel Hill or Duke to get these kids the experience of going to college, like here at UNCW, and get that on the forefront of their brains."
